Mod&Dot is shutting down

Hey, this is Jarrod Drysdale, the creator of Mod&Dot.

Mod&Dot is shutting down March 1st, 2021.

Current users: after the shutdown, all data will be deleted and unrecoverable, and the browser extension will no longer work. New user signups are currently disabled but anonymous commenting is still open. Make sure to create backups of any Mods you need to keep. I recommend right clicking the screenshots inside the Mod and saving them, and then copying/pasting the code diffs into a Github Gist or text files.

Why? The reasons are mostly personal, so rather than a full post-mortem, here’s a quick summary:

  • As a founder, I’ve realized I’m not interested in doing the work required to create a new product category
  • In recent months I’ve learned that the product is too ambitious/complex and demands too much from the user
  • For reasons in my personal life, I don’t have the time to do what this business needs right now

Thanks for your support and for trying it out!
